Background Info
I started joggling because I was both a runner and a juggler and I found out about the world championship at IJA and thought this was something I could probably be good at. Also, I had been a competitive runner for 25 years and I was looking for something new to do in running.

Then I realized it is an incredible full body workout and fits my lifestyle very well because I never have time to do upper body conditioning, and by joggling with one pound balls I could get a full body workout while I was running.

How long have you been Joggling?
I've been Juggling for about 8 years, but started seriously juggling (beyond just simple 3 ball cascade) after I went to my first juggling convention in Atlanta in February, 2006.

I started joggling in 2006. It took me about a year to really get it down to where I don’t think about the balls when I’m joggling, and I can look ahead and focus on the road or track in front of me and on my running form and not on the juggling.

What's been the biggest problem to overcome?
The biggest problem was that I had no coach, so I didn’t understand some of the principles of joggling.

The basic principle is that you are using the same arm motion that you use in running to do the juggling. You have to move your arms back and forth anyway if you are running so it's almost wasted motion for non-jogglers. I simply use that same motion and rhythym for joggling.

Any ambitions?
My goals are to continue to compete in IJA and to try and set-up other races for joggling. Joggling was featured at the United States Track & Field Championships as an exhibition a few years ago. It would be nice if we could do that at other major track competitions.

Early on I was joggling in local road races. But I’ve stopped doing that for two reasons:

1) I felt uncomfortable that in the rare occasion I did drop a ball I might trip up another runner
2) I have decided to focus on shorter distances of 1 mile or less. I’m really not a long distance runner.

Where can we see you joggling?
I train on the roads around my house and my office. I prefer running on the track because I’m really a track guy. But I don’t always have time to get to the track.

My next big joggling event will probably be IJA next summer since there are no other joggling events in the world that I know of.
